Fix: AMD Radeon HD 2000, 3000, and 4000 series Display Problems after update

Reportedly, there’ve been some problems with the last AMD Radeon HD 3200 update. It seems that the adapter is not working as it was supposed to. Also, the resolution option changed and the ability to use multiple monitors disappeared, as well. The problematic adaptor is the Microsoft Basic Display Driver.

Microsoft to resolve the problem

But don’t worry, Microsoft is aware of this problem and they released another update that will install a driver which will solve the problem with the multiple monitor display and the resolution control. To get this update, go to Start, tap Settings and then look for Update and security. Then, press Check for updates. Or you can simply go to the Microsoft Update Catalog site to get it.

And if you want to manually delete the driver from the system and recover the approved driver version, you can!

Here’s how to do it:

  1. The first thing you need to do it start Device Manager.
  2. Press and Hold the Start Menu icon and then select it.
  3. Then expand Display adapters, right-click on the issued one and select Properties.
  4. Then select the Driver tab and make sure that the driver version is 22.19.128.0.
  5. Then proceed to click on uninstall the device. “Delete the driver software for this device”, and don’t forget that this is important because it won’t let the driver reinstall again. After this, you will need to reboot your device.
  6. After that, open the Device Manager again.
  7. Click Action and then Scan for hardware changes. After this, check again the driver version. If it’s still 22.19.128.0, repeat the steps from 4 to 7 until the 8.970.100.9001 driver is reinstalled. This should resolve your graphics issues.
