Windows Defender is what keeps people safe. Even though you might not realize it, the internet is filled with malicious websites but fortunately, Windows Defender takes care of them. Therefore, Windows 10 users should always make sure that their antivirus is kept up to date with the latest features and security patches.
Windows Defender Automatic Updates
With that said, today we are going to talk about the steps that Windows 10 users need to follow in order to keep their security level top notch. First off, we need to mention that Microsoft made sure to equip Windows 10 with a cool feature which guarantees that its antivirus is constantly receiving the latest updates.
In order to active this feature, Windows 10 users will need to enable it by pressing the “Windows Key” + “S” and then type in the following “Control Panel”. After doing this, access the “Security and Maintenance” panel. Now, expand the “Security” option and verify the status of the antivirus.
If the status doesn’t show anything about the latest Windows Defender update, then it means that Microsoft’s auto update is turned off. Luckily, this feature can be enabled by expanding the “Maintenance” option and then by looking around for the latest update and by selecting the “update” button”.
Updating Straight from Windows Defender
Windows 10 users should know that they can download the latest updates straight through antivirus’ user interface. Therefore, press the “Windows Key” + “S” once again, and then type in the following “Windows Defender Security Center”.
From the Windows Defender Security Center, users need to click on the “Virus & Threat Protection” then scroll down on the page and click the “Protection Update” option. All that’s left now is to click on “Check for Updates” and wait a couple minutes for the scan to be finished.
